In September 2020, the Methacance agricultural methanisation site injected its first m3 of biomethane into the GRDF natural gas distribution network.

This gas is produced from livestock effluents, crop residues and intermediate crops. The three objectives of this methanisation are

The production of green energy
The recovery of organic waste from the region
To contribute to the local recycling of fertilising elements
This production will make it possible to cover the equivalent of the annual consumption of 2,000 new homes (heating, cooking, domestic hot water).

This methanisation unit is backed up by a 110 kVA GELEC group.
